Inclusion - General

When young children are in an inclusive setting, they frequently are supported by a variety of Specialists.  The introduction of this Specialist as a member of an Early Childhood Classroom team brings new challenges to the collaborative process as the different professionals work to weave together their beliefs and practices. In this series, we explore how individuals from different disciplines can communicate and work together effectively to best meet the needs of all the children.

In this 3 part series on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), we explore how to successfully create and implement lessons for young children that support the learning of all children.  Through honoring the children's interests, knowledge and voices, educators can help all children become expert learners. By applying the principles of UDL and Developmentally Appropriate Practice learning can be a positive and fun experience for children and the adults who teach and care for them.

Children's Literature is a unique resource to help young children learn about themselves, their families and a diverse world.  In this workshop we will review a wide range of children's books and discuss how adults can use them to support inclusion and anti-bias curriculum in early childhood education settings.
